![]() August 9th......Have just completed Principal Photography on The Blue Valley Songbird in Nashville Tennessee. The movie is based on the Dolly Parton song of the same name and stars Dolly Parton, Billy Dean and John Terry. We shot in and around Nashville during July/August in brutal temperatures and humidity. ![]() Roberts' Bar in Downtown Nashville was hopping when DP Rob Draper made a guest appearance with the Band. The camera department was prepared, every day, as usual, to handle my camera's very carefully. ![]() ![]() L to R Neil Lisk (loader), Ron Coons (1st AC), Jeff Wolf (Operator), Beth Horton (2nd AC), Rob (DP) Produced by Hearst Entertainment and Directed by Richard Colla, the movie tells the story of a young singer, on the road with her band, who is trying to build a successful career. This is played against the backdrop of her past where a domineering father refused to allow her voice to be heard. Again I had an excellent local crew primarily made up of Nashvillians who did an astounding job in spite of the unusually hot weather. Shot for Lifetime Television the movie represents a real departure, photographically, from the norm for them and plays on a gritty, moody and very textured canvas. The show airs in November. Sincere thanks to everyone on the crew for a great effort under difficult conditions and also all the folks in Production for their support and the people of Nashville who made us really welcome.
